Radiant Cooling (Chilled Ceiling)
This is a rapidly growing form of cooling.
It provides draft-free comfort with uniform temperature distribution.
This system is used widely in Europe and in the Orient. Proving
its value in some of the world's most humid climates, such as Singapore,
there is little doubt that its popularity will grow in the U.S.
To control humidity and prevent condensation
from forming on the chilled surfaces, a dehumidification system
must be employed with controls to orchestrate the interaction between
the systems.
MSP dehumidifying technology fits very
neatly in this application. The dehumidification system can be designed
to treat the outdoor air, room air or both. The dehumidification
system must remove enough moisture to maintain room humidity and
to keep the dew point below the surface temperature of the chilled
surfaces. These dehumidification systems typically provide very
low airflow and are inexpensive to own and operate.

Data Centers (Computer Rooms)
Electric heaters, in data center cooling
units, are used to control humidity during light load conditions
and when outdoor air is high in humidity. These heaters result in
substantial increases in the size of emergency generators and uninterruptible
power supplies (UPS).
Excess humidity in data centers generally
comes from two sources--people and ventilation (outdoor) air. Delivering
outdoor air, with humidity below the indoor humidity, will ensure
control of indoor humidity without the need for reheating.
MSP Dehumidifying Technology is well
suited for this application. The MSP dehumidifying coil is used
to treat the outdoor air stream and remove moisture before it enters
the data center, thereby eliminating the need for reheat.

Ice Skating Rinks
Ice skating rinks present a challenge
for a dehumidification system. Humidity must be kept low to prevent
condensation on the ice surface and to prevent fog from forming
in the indoor climate.
MSP Dehumidifying Technology is well
suited for this application. The energy in Ice shavings is harnessed
by using near-freezing water for dehumidification. The net results
are superior dehumidification with little energy cost and the elimination
of ice mounds, melting in the parking lot. The MSP dehumidifying
coil, using near-freezing water, is used to treat the outdoor air
stream and remove moisture before it enters the rink, thereby eliminating
fogging and condensation.
